Primary Purpose of this Position:
The NC Zoo is seeking a two enthusiastic team members to be a part of its Commissary team to aid in the preparation and delivery of diets for the animals.
Responsible for maintaining inventories of foodstuffs by reporting shortages to the immediate supervisor, preparing foods, assembling diets, cleaning commissary and food preparation areas, and delivering diets for the animals at the zoo.
Diets must be prepared to specific standards designed to meet individual nutritional requirements and established high standards of quality control.
Zoo Commissary Assistant also receives shipments, stores, and rotates food ingredients.
Job Requirements:
Position is required to work weekends and holidays rotations.
Considered Essential/Mandatory Staff and required to work on adverse weather days and during zoo emergencies.
Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid NC driver's license within 30 days of employment.
Required to participate in an occupational health program due to contact with animal containment areas.
Must have the agility and physically ability to regularly and safely:
lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally; bend, stoop, and work in tight spaces; climb stairs and ladders; move over and about all types of equipment to inspect, analyze and perform repairs; stand for the majority of the day; endure extended outdoor field conditions at any time of the year; negotiate uneven outdoor terrain on foot; hear and respond to radio communication; and drive motor vehicles at day and at night.

Working experience in food service that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade.
Must be able to read and write and, perform basic mathematical calculations.
Management Prefers Prefer production/assembly line experience.
Prefer one-year relevant food product and handling experience and/or general kitchen duties, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Education and/or experience in food service that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
